G7 Ise-Shima Summit

The G7 Summit is a meeting of the leaders of the G7 countries joined by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission. Each of the G7 countries takes turns hosting the annual summit. Preparatory meetings take place year-round ahead of the summit, with preparations and proceedings being conducted in order for the actual summit and ministerial meetings to take place. The host country in 2016 is Japan. The G7 Ise-Shima Summit will take place from May 26–27, 2016 on Kashikojima in Shima City, Mie Prefecture.

G7 Ministers’ Meetings

The G7 Ministers’ Meetings take place before and after the G7 Summit. For the Ise-Shima Summit, ministerial meetings will take place from April through September at venues across Japan. The ministerial meetings provide an avenue for ministers (or minister-level officials) of G7 countries to mutually discuss agendas that are specific to their area of responsibility. The host country in any given year decides which ministers meetings will be held that year.
